Our GPS Co-ordinates: X: 19°28'33'68' Y:-34°41'08'12'
Hermanus is 105 kilometres from Cape Town and the V & A Waterfront. It is internationally known as a premier Southern Right Whale watching locale and for Great White Shark cage diving. Hermanus in South Africa hugs the seafront of Walker Bay on the Atlantic Ocean, and is only 80kilometres from Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. Flanked by beautiful white beaches, watched over by magnificent mountains, Hermanus is known as the home of Southern Right Whale watching. Nature lovers come from far and wide for the best land based whale watching in the world.
The historic towns of Franschoek, Paarl, Somerset West and Stellenbosch are all just 90km away. You are therefor conveniently located to explore the famous South African wine farms and Cape wine routes. You will agree with thousands of other visitors and residents that Hermanus must be the most beautiful village in the Western Cape, South Africa and Africa.
This most beautiful village has lovely warm dry summers (October to May). Winter is mild with occasional rain - just like an English summer. It is a typical Mediterranean climate except that the temperatures in winter are not as cold as Portugal, Spain or Greece.
Hermanus, besides being great for Southern Right Whale watching, is just a 20min drive to Gansbaai which is the best location in the world for Great White Shark cage diving and viewing. And now the general public, too, can enjoy first-hand experience of the Great White Shark. Observing and diving with these majestic creatures under the correct conditions and guidance is a wonderful experience. Even "anti-shark" people return from an expedition or diving trip with, if not exactly love, certainly with respect, for these awesome creatures of the sea.
Riana and her staff would love to assist you with a Great White Shark cage diving adventure or Southern Right Whale watching or any other activity in the area.
